Award-winning Author of
Honeysuckle to Handcuffs.
About The Author
As long as she can remember Cork native Delia O’Callaghan wrote in her journal daily, transcribing her thoughts and whatever happened to be going on in her life, and like many people, always had a romantic notion of someday writing a novel. Then in 2008 that day came. While living in Boston, U.S.A she joined a creative writers’ workshop at the Boston Centre for Adult Education. Taking on board the experts’ advice to write about what she knew, Delia started a novel about an Irish girl living and working illegally in Boston.

BASED ON A REAL LIFE STORY

about HONEYSUCKLE TO HANDCUFFS
Delia O’Callaghan’s story of the girl who very nearly had everything, and then very nearly had nothing, is an absolute delight. Funny, happy, poignant, honest, kind-hearted, witty, sad – all of those things, and more. The narrative is handled throughout with a deft touch making the book a joy to read. Read it before it gets turned into a film!

I loved it! I found myself rushing home after work to read the next chapter! Had to remind myself throughout the book that this is actually based on a true story which made it even better. You really warm to all the characters in the book and it left me wondering what happened next! All in all a fantastic read:)

Loved every minute of this book, couldn't put it down! The precise detailed account of life in Boston brought back lots of happy memories of my own time living in the states. What a journey Delia had, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get lost in the life of an ambitious, adventurous & exciting young lady who loves the nice things in life! Well done Delia, looking forward to your next book 🙂

Entertaining and heart wrenching all in the one book. Super book for a journey or anyone who has lived in the USA or Ireland. Very vivid characters and a great storytelling narrative.

Knowing the author from away back I knew humour would not be an issue with her... This was a gripping read both from the horrific ordeal she endured but to also be able to put the witty spin on it... Wished there was more when I reached the final page... Not wishing her a longer term but I'll know what I mean when u read it..

Very funny and sad book. I liked the way that it was written because the author could have become bitter and lost their sense of humour. I loved the fact that, the story of an illegal immigrant, was about a white Irish woman. I think that this book showed that we are all human under the skin, whether Mexican or Irish.

“It had to be a comedy. I couldn’t write it in a sad tone because there were jokes just thrown in everywhere. It’s kind of self-deprecating but it’s a bit of fun.”
